Amy McLin graduated from Baylor University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Financial Services & Planning and International Business. In December 1997, she received her J.D. from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. Ms. McLin is licensed to practice in Texas and the Federal Courts for the Western and Southern Districts of Texas.

 

Her law practice has an emphasis on the representation of condominium and homeowners' associations in general legal matters, assessment collection, and covenant enforcement actions. Ms. McLin?s experience includes pre_litigation work and appearances in mediation, district courts, bankruptcy court, and the Fourth Court of Appeals in San Antonio where she assisted with the appeal of a reported case regarding the interpretation of restrictive covenants relating to mobile homes and manufactured housing. See Pebble Beach Prop. Owners' Ass'n v. Sherer, 2 SW3d 283 (Tex.App.?San Antonio 1999). Ms. McLin?s representation also includes the review, drafting, and amendment of restrictive covenants and bylaws for developers and associations.

 

During the last two sessions of the Texas Legislature, Ms. McLin has provided testimony in front of various Texas House of Representative and Senate Committees regarding bills related to the operation, management, and authority of homeowners associations. Additionally, she has worked as reporter for a group of lawyers from the Property Owners? Association subcommittee of the State Bar of Texas who were charged with drafting a neutral and balanced uniform act to govern homeowners associations. The result of this work is a proposed Texas Uniform Planned Community Act which ? hopefully ? will be sponsored for introduction in 2007.

 

Ms. McLin is a member of the State Bar of Texas (member of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Section and an active member of the Property Owners? Association subcommittee), American Bar Association (member of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Section), San Antonio Bar Association (member of the Publications Committee), Bexar County Women?s Bar Association, San Antonio Young Lawyers Association, Community Associations Institute ? a trade organization which specializes in education and issues relating to community associations and master planned communities (she is a Director and Education Chairman for the San Antonio Chapter of the Community Association Institute), and Community Associations Institute Texas Legislative Action Committee. Additionally, Ms. McLin is actively involved with the San Antonio Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha (Fundraising Chairman, Past-President) and the Junior League of San Antonio (Public Policy Chairman).
